Hasta Colman is a doctoral researcher at Johns Hopkins SAIS whose fieldwork has taken her across Asia — including Nepal, India, Cambodia, and Thailand — regions where Buddhist traditions remain living practice. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, she spent nearly a decade working with grassroots NGOs across Asia before turning to academic research. She writes on the intersection of culture, policy, and the communities that shape both.
