Peter Skilling is a scholar of Buddhist literature, history, and epigraphy across South and Southeast Asia. He serves as special lecturer at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and honorary associate in the Department of Indian Sub-Continental Studies at the University of Sydney. Previously a professor with the French School of Asian Studies (EFEO) in Bangkok until 2017, Skilling is an honorary member of the Siam Society and was elected an honorary fellow of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai in 2017. His extensive publications explore the transmission and preservation of Buddhist texts throughout Asia, tracing how teachings have been received, interpreted, and passed down across diverse cultures and traditions.
