Venerable Thubten Chodron is an American Buddhist nun who received novice ordination in 1977 and full ordination in 1986. She studied for many years under His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan masters in India and Nepal. In 2003, she founded Sravasti Abbey in Washington State, the only Tibetan Buddhist training monastery for Western monastics in America, where she serves as abbess. She is known for making Buddhist teachings accessible to Western audiences and is co-authoring The Library of Wisdom and Compassion series with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
