New Buddhist Philosophy Seminar

84000 Associate Editor Dr. Jeremy Manheim is teaching a Buddhist philosophy seminar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, guiding students through Kangyur and Tengyur texts as they investigate the nature and causes of suffering.

Dr. Jeremy Manheim's course will open with The Sūtra of the Wheel of Dharma (Toh 337) from the 84000 Reading Room, inviting students to reflect on the nature of suffering before examining its possible causes — whether belief in a self, subject–object duality, conceptuality, or other sources of error.

Throughout the semester, students deepen this inquiry by alternating between close readings of Kangyur and Tengyur texts and philosophical analysis of the arguments they contain.
