Metaphors are applied to represent some of the more unfathomable moments and elements of this event. Beginning in darkness, the clouds portray the demon Mārā —a conceptual personification of that which obstructs our own awareness.
In contrast, Buddha’s radiant wisdom, compassion, and his unmovable enlightened qualities, manifest as light breaking throug hthe clouds, and revealing the continued presence of our own Buddhanature.
As the narration climaxes, the film manifests clear, empty sky, representing the fundamental destruction of our own “Mārā” and the realization that there is no Mārā, and that there is no Buddha, that there are no beings and that there is no self. This is the moment when our pure awareness moves beyond all dualistic distinctions.
