
Drubgyud Tenzin Rinpoche is the abbot of Chökyi Gyatso Institute (CGI) in eastern Bhutan, where he guides over 150 monks at this progressive monastery. Born in Nepal in 1983, he was recognized by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche as the incarnation of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche's maternal grandfather, Lama Sonam Zangpo—a renowned yogi from Bhutan and founder of CGI. Rinpoche trained at Chokyi Lodro Institute in Himachal Pradesh, India, and studied at other Himalayan monastic colleges. He studied Sanskrit in Varanasi and completed a three-year retreat in Paro, Bhutan. Fluent in English, Rinpoche is currently residing temporarily in Canada. He is married and a father.
